Meet the officers: Rachel Pak
Can you believe that Orientation is tomorrow? In the meanwhile, let's get to know our Publicity Manager, Rachel Pak! This summer, when she was not eating copious amounts of food, she was working as a creative marketing intern at a small start-up in sunny Los Angeles.
Hi, everyone! I am Rachel Pak, a member of the class of 2018, a media arts and science major, and in total disbelief that it’s already my sophomore year. This year I will be serving as your Publicity Manager, so if you see
me taking pictures of you, please don’t be alarmed—just getting content for our
Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and lovely blog. I’m also in charge of
advertising our concerts to the Wellesley community and the greater Boston
area.
What have you been up to this summer?
Besides recouping hours of sleep, I was a summer intern at a smartphone accessory company called iTongue that makes kickstands for
your phone. My duties were to come up with creative content to exhibit the uses
of the product.
When you’re not singing Ave Maria, what are you jamming out
to?
My Spotify gives people whiplash—I will listen to anything.
However, this summer I have been obsessed with the album, Urban Flora, by Alina Baraz and Galimatias.
What are you looking forward to this year with the choir?
I am definitely excited for the choir’s bonding activities
and traditions. From the retreats to Choir Valentine’s, these events are my
favorite because I get to know other members of the choir who aren’t a part of
my section; besides, who doesn’t like consuming copious amounts of cookies?
And for fun, if you were to wield a super power, what would
it be?
It would easily be the gift of surviving without needing
sleep. Let’s be real, when the clock strikes midnight, sometimes I am
crestfallen that there are so many things I want to do—“miles to go
before I sleep” as Frost would put it—and not enough hours in the day.
