Meet the officers: Alexandra Bueno
Elected at the end of the previous academic year,
your 2015-2016 Choir officers have been scattered across the earth this summer,
engaging in research opportunities, culturally immersive experiences, and the
lost art of sleeping enough. Today, we will get to know Alexandra Bueno, our
Rehearsal Manager. A second alto, she has been exploring Taiwan for the past
few months.
Introduce yourself!
Alexandra Bueno!!! Member of the Class of 2018--currently undeclared and interested in
too many subjects--born and raised in Dirty Jerz ("New Jersey"). It
is my great joy to be this year's Rehearsal Manager, handling the music and
chairs we choirbees sing from.
What have you been up to this summer?
Well, originally I had no plan whatsoever, except maybe to pet a lot of dogs
and achieve a single pull-up. Somehow that turned into me living in Taiwan for
two months! The program is called the Taiwan-US Sister Alliance, which lets
American students do intensive Chinese language study while also getting a
great cultural education. Take comfort in knowing that a lack of certainty
about the future can lead to very interesting opportunities, folks. Also,
Taiwan is really cool.
When you’re not singing Ave Maria, what are you jamming out to?
There are so many possible answers here! Shamir's "On the
Regular," Metric's "Black Sheep," Stromae's
"Papaoutai," L'il Mama's "Lipgloss" "Kiss Me,"
that "Safe" song that plays at the end of Avatar: the Last Airbender
episodes, "It's Tough to Be a God" from the Road to El Dorado... and
so many others.
What are you looking forward to this year with the choir?
I'm really looking forward to getting to know this year's repertoire and the
people singing it!
And for fun, if you were to wield a super power, what would it be?
The ability
to pick up any instrument and immediately know how to jam.
Well said.
