Choir Halloween!

It’s that time of year again: Choir Halloween!

This year, the annual costume show-down was a stiff competition, especially since it was a tad difficult this time to decide WHAT to dress up as since the majority of the lyrics in our music this semester is largely metaphorical. The choir delivered, however.

Lucy Norton '21 (left) and Marina Lopez '19 (right) chose to dress up as the beautiful night sky from "Stars" by
Ēriks Ešenvalds. Other members of the choir have also taken a cue from the gorgeous work, personifying certain elements of the piece like the stars, a beating heart, and... the spicy night (please see Tara Kohli '21 in her Sriracha outfit).

"Stars" were well represented at Choir Halloween

Azalea Sun '21, Sammy Lincroft '21, Maria Wollin '20, and Jane Abernathy '18 donned costumes inspired by "Malala" by Joan Szymko.
Here we have teachers and... a pen?

Briar Banerji '18, May Xia '21, and Julia Regier '18 picked "Call of the Flowers" from the opera Lakmé, imbuing their costumes with some punny humor.
CALL of the flowers
This one stumped the majority of us, but Demi Adeboye '19 and Kathleen Strahan '19 are two parts of one concept: the tritone, also known as the devil's interval.

Putting the spooky into music theory
Finally we have Izzy Gelfand '21, ornamented with "wow" reacts that left us astonished. She is "Astonishing," from "Little Women" the musical.
Wow reacts only!
Who do you think came out on top this Choir Halloween?
