Convocation 2017

It's that time of year again.

With students and faculty returning to campus, Wellesley College is coming back to life, reinvigorated for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Our community always kicks things off with Convocation, which includes a special guest performance by us. At the beginning of the ceremony, after Yanvalou brings in the procession of faculty and seniors, we sing "America, the Beautiful." To cap the series of speeches made by President Johnson, Provost Shennan, the College Government President, and the Chief Justice, we then perform our perennial favorite Wellesley College's Alma Mater.

For those of us who have been a part of the Wellesley College Choir since we first stumbled on campus, our last Convocation is an emotional experience.

Or... at least it is for me.

As the Publicity Manager for this organization, I am going to take this moment to be self-indulgent. This short appearance made by us is the start to the end of a series of rehearsals, late-night meals, and tours that has defined my time at Wellesley. This group of people has supported me and helped me grow, not only as a musician, but as a human being as well. As we took this picture, I felt overwhelming gratitude to everyone posing here.

It's going to be an "astonishing" year for us.
