Choirbee of the Week: Erika!

Meet Erika, our Choirbee of the Week! She's a junior from New York City.

Is there any significance to your name?
“Erika” with a “k” means strength…it must mean some kind of mental/emotional strength because I have trouble doing just 10 push-ups in a row!

What did you want to be when you were a kid?
A teacher (which is what I still want to be!)

Strangest food you ever ate:
Snails in Barcelona over Wintersession—they were a little chewy for my taste, and being able to still see some of the antennae freaked me out

Place you want to visit:
Everywhere in the world! I can’t wait to visit the UK this summer.

Last song you listened to:
Since it took me two tries to finish this survey, I have two: “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder and “Pray for Rain” by Massive Attack

When I’m stressed out I like to:
Nap (for 2+ hours at a time) and do pretty much anything besides schoolwork

The childhood toy I always wanted, but never got:
It’s not exactly a toy, but I’ve always wanted a dog. One year for Christmas, I devoted a whole page of my Christmas list to what kind of dog I wanted and all the things I would need to make her happy…

Pet Peeve:
Bad grammar makes me sad.

Guilty Pleasure:
When I order out on weekend nights, I like to eat the leftovers the morning after, even if it’s as non-breakfast-y as Lemon Thai (yum).

Favorite Broadway musical:
I haven’t seen many, but Wicked is amazing!

Favorite sound:
Ocean sounds (minus the sound of seagulls)

Favorite thing about Wellesley:
Choir, obviously! Also, my friends are pretty amazing.

Playdoh or silly putty:
Playdoh—it’s easier to manage; plus, I used to love the salty taste as a kid (weird, I know)

Apples or oranges:
Both! I eat at least one of each a day at Wellesley…

Rain or snow:
Both are great when I’m in mood for them. What I really don’t like is frigid cold rain in the summer!

Letters or e-mail:
I like email just because it’s so quick, but I believe in sending postcards when I travel, and I always hand-make every card I write.

Tea or coffee:
I am a huge tea junky—I have seven different kinds of loose tea and two teapots here at school.

Anything else you think the choir should know!:
I love you all, and I always look forward to Monday and Thursday nights! Xoxo <3
