The Final Countdown

Only four short days left until the Wellesley College Choir goes to Portugal! Tomorrow travelling choirbees will be returning to campus for two days of rehearsal and pre-tour bonding before we depart Sunday morning. While in Portugal, we’ll be singing and sightseeing in various cities. Here’s a basic look at what our trip will look like: After our flight across the Atlantic, we'll land in Oporto, the second largest city in Portugal. We'll spend three days in Oporto, which will include a concert in the Oporto Cathedral. Then we travel to Lisbon, stopping at Coimbra on the way. Lisbon is where we’ll be based for the rest of the trip. While in Lisbon, we’ll have two concerts, one at Colégio Sagrado Coração de Maria and one at Jeronimo’s Monastery. When we’re not singing, we’ll be sightseeing and taking day trips to other cities, including Sintra, Estoril, and Cascais. The choir is so excited for this trip, and we'd like to thank everyone who bought raffle tickets or auction items to help make it possible!

We'll be updating the blog regularly so you can follow our adventures in Portugal! Feel free to leave comments, or if you’ve been to Portugal, suggestions of things we should do/see while we’re there!

Comments

  1. To Portugal our songs we bring,
To Portugal our tunes we sing.
Sometimes the notes start low, then rise
    At other times, we harmonize.
    Oporto: site of our debut,
But then we sing in Lisbon too.
We Wellesley women are the best.
We sing with vigor and with zest.
