1 Day, 3 Concerts

Our day started at the very reasonable hour of 9:30am after a lovely breakfast spread at the hotel. First stop: mass at the Porto Cathedral. We’ve never sung so well in such a cold location. Our audience was wearing heavy winter garb. We were wearing our short sleeve dresses. But their warm reception heated our hearts. After mass we had a mini concert in the cathedral, and then had our picture taken by a local photographer. We had some time to explore the cathedral, before finding lunch in the center of town.

Our final concert of the day was hosted by the most prestigious music conservatory in Porto for children up to the age of 18. It was a beautiful space to sing in. At the rehearsal, we met the two local musicians who would be accompanying our song “Suffer No Grief.” Julia played the cello for us, and Paulo on percussion. We also debuted “Indo Eu,” a well-known Portuguese children’s song, at this performance, which made the audience smile and laugh...perhaps at our Portuguese. They seemed to appreciate our attempt though, because it received thunderous applause. All in all, a very musical day. Tomorrow, we look forward to a day full of sightseeing!
