Choirbee of the Week: Jennifer Fang '17
The Choirbee has returned! After a well deserved summer vacation, our mascot is back in action. Every week--during our Thursday rehearsals--our MOOCA, Keertana, will award the Choirbee to an outstanding member of the Choir on behalf of the Officers and Dr. Graham. So, without further ado, let's meet Jennifer Fang, our Choirbee of the Week of September 24. She was a tremendous help to our Concert Manager, Rebecca, staying behind to fit all the members of the choir with dresses.
Jennifer and the Choirbee |
1. Hometown: Irvine, CA
2. Favorite musical artist: Vienna Teng
3. Favorite song
to put you in a happy mood: "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson and
Bruno Mars. It's peppy in a great way.
4. Who would star in a film made about your
life? Ellen Wong from the
Carrie Diaries looks like a much better dressed version of me, haha
5. What’s the last book you read for fun? Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn
6. What’s a song that always gets stuck in your
head? "Wenn ich Tanzen
Will" from Elisabeth das Musical
7. What is something you can’t live without? My phone; it connects me to everyone I
love.
8. If you could have fancy brunch with anyone (living or
dead) who would it be and why? J.R.R.
Tolkien, so I can pick his brains on linguistics and worldbuilding.
9. What’s your favorite food? Sushi!
10. Who is your personal hero/heroine: I have yet
to see an episode of Fresh Off the Boat but Candace Wu's quotes are always so
on point about Asian American representation in the media.
11. What movie could you watch over and over? Pacific Rim. Or, if I'm feeling
frilly, Princess Diaries 2.
12. If you could visit any place in the world, where would
you go? Takarazuka, Japan, for their amazing theatre.
13. If you could go back and visit any time period, what
time would you travel to and why? I
would love to visit the Library of Alexandria, so the time period before it got
burnt down would be great. I would smuggle books back to the present to save
their destruction.
14. What is your favorite word? The many various linguistic uses of
the f-word is so fascinating for me; you can use it as almost any part of
speech and also as an infix (as well as, to some extent, a prefix and a
suffix). That being said, I also like the word diaphanous because it sounds as
beautiful as it means (which is translucent and delicate).
15. Something people wouldn’t guess by looking at you is: I
am extremely terrified of driving.
16. Why is a raven like a writing desk? Edgar Allan Poe wrote on both!
