Choir Tour: Montréal!
The Wellesley College Choir spent three days in the beautiful city of Montréal, Canada over spring break. We had three great performances, including a workshop with the McGill University Choir. We learned to have fun with improvisation, and improved our French tremendously.
Our internet access was a bit spotty in Canada, and we were not able to update our social media as much as we wanted. So check out our twitter and keep checking back on the blog on Mondays and Thursdays for more tour adventures!
Our President and Vice President looking chipper on the bus! We left at 7am, and got to Montréal around 2. What a long but fun bus ride! There was sleeping, movies, and singalongs to some epic 90s music.
Stretch! Warming up before rehearsing for our Church Service. What a great experience! The service was beautiful, and in English luckily, so we could understand it!
Choirbees at the top of the Mountain. Did you know the island of Montréal had a mountain on it? Did you know Montréal was an island? The things you learn on choir tour...
We all made it through border control and into Canada, even the Bee! And no, we didn't climb up the Mountain. Our amazing bus driver Ed took us there, along with our Tour Guide Peggy.
Dinner on the first night was at a delicious Steakhouse in Old Montréal. Don't worry - vegetarians got an excellent pasta dish, while others had chicken, steak, or trout. What a great way to end the first long day of tour!
The Rue des Artistes in Old Montréal. While we didn't see any artists per se in the little street, we felt that the Choir belonged there.
Our second day was St. Patrick's Day! Montréal has a great parade that the choirbees enjoyed after performing at the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul. Look at all that green!
These Irish Step Dancers in the parade were great, and so cute! The smallest children couldn't have been older than 4 years old.
The flags of Quebec, Canada, and the United Kingdom. We learned all about the bilingual status of the province of Quebec, and practiced our French with the friendly citizens!
Our hotel was right by Chinatown. It was only 2 blocks long, and this section of the city began and ended with these gorgeous gates.
