Choir Bee of the Week: Maya Nandakumar '19

This week, Maya Nandakumar '19 is our Choir Bee of the Week! Amidst the turbulent crush of the end of the school year, Maya, a first year, memorized all of "Personent Hodie," one of the many pieces we performed for our Vespers concert, before other members of the choir did. Let's meet her!

1.     Hometown: San Jose, California

2.     Favorite musical artist: Lana Del Rey

3.     Favorite song to put you in a happy mood: Love Story by Taylor Swift (throwing it way back)
4.     Who would star in a film made about your life? Mindy Kaling because we're pretty much the same person. 
5.     What’s the last book you read for fun? The Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson (she's brilliant!)
6.     What’s a song that always gets stuck in your head? Hips Don't Lie by Shakira (!!!)
7.     What is something you can’t live without? My mother's cooking. 

8.     If you could have fancy brunch with anyone (living or dead) who would it be and why? Audrey Hepburn, because can you think of a more classy combination than fancy brunch and Audrey Hepburn?
9.     What’s your favorite food? Anything with too much sugar. 
10.    Who is your personal hero/heroine: My cat, Tom. He's an inspiration. 
11.    What movie could you watch over and over? Legally Blonde! 

12.   If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go? Rome! There's so many generations of history, art, and culture.
13.   If you could go back and visit any time period, what time would you travel to and why? Absolutist France-- seems like a real glamorous time. 
14.   What is your favorite word? Literature. 
15.   Something people wouldn’t guess by looking at you is: I play A LOT of video games! 
16.   Why is a raven like a writing desk? 'Tis only there and nothing more.
